Cathy Wester

I make art because I need to make art. I don’t know how my artistic vision works and fear that if I analyze the process, instead of just allowing it to happen, that I will lose the ability to know without knowing.

After 40+ years working as a photographer, I took four years off to explore painting, drawing and Fiber Collage. Now with the addition of a wonderful Giclee printer to my studio and time for a fresh artistic vision to be born, I am ready to explore photography again.

This Giclee printer, Photoshop and Lightroom give me even more creative control than I had with my images in the days of darkroom and chemistry. I didn’t change from film to digital capture until 2009 when I traded three film cameras for a professional DSLR.

Currently my photographic capture is all digital using Nikon D700 and Samsung Note 4 phone cameras.
