I am a mother, a caretaker, a second-generation artist, a teacher and an Arkansas native. As a contemporary oil painter, I work from direct observation and my studio expands to wherever I am capable of hauling my equipment. I work simultaneously through a variety of genres: plein air, still life and figure-based narratives, drawn especially to desolate spaces and untold stories. This continual pivot in my studio practice serves to keep me inspired as the developing pieces influence one another in unexpected ways.

Though usually working in traditional oil painting methods, my paintings have begun to leave the canvas and spread into three-dimensional space with experimental mixed-media combinations with oil painting and sculpture. I paint to build stories that invite viewers into the world that I see…sometimes that story is so large that it cannot be contained on a flat canvas.
