2018 ACNMWA Conversation Tour for Arkansas Women Artists and Art Advocates
Artists, arts advocates and representatives of art organizations gathered at four venues to network and learn about ACNMWA programs while enjoying each venue’s distinctive arts event before pursuing lunches on their own at area restaurants.
On Saturday, September 22, participants enjoyed a tour of Bentonville’s Brightwater Center for the Study of Food and Art: highlights ranged from seeing one of Dawn Holder’s porcelain sculptures in the entry to seeing the 8th Street Market and sampling its various restaurants.
On Saturday, October 20, participants enjoyed a tour of exhibits at the Arts and Science Center for Southeast Arkansas in Pine Bluff. Curator, Dr. Lenore Shoults gave insights into “UAPB & ASC: Five Decades of Collaboration”, “Small but Mighty: Works from the ASC Collection”, and the newly installed commissioned artworks by Kevin Cole and James Hayes.
On Saturday, October 27, participants had the opportunity to tour Arkansas State University’s Bradbury Art Museum in Jonesboro. Education Coordinator Haley Vogues guided the group through the exhibit series titled “Eclectic” that featured installations and art works by Teresa Cole, Jed Jackson, Tom Lee, Mario M. Muller, Hans Schmitt-Matzen and David Sullivan. A highlight included information about the recent museum renovation and exhibit space improvements.
On Saturday November 3, participants enjoyed conversation in the foyer of the Arkansas Arts Center in Little Rock prior to viewing “Delta Through the Decades” and enjoying a docent-led tour of “Independent Vision: Modern and Contemporary Art from the Martin Muller Collection.”
