Jessica Mongeon

Jessica Mongeon is a professional artist whose acrylic paintings examine systems of nature and environmental issues. She was born in Rolette, North Dakota and now resides in Arkansas, where she works as an Assistant Professor of Art at Arkansas Tech University. Jessica has shown her artwork nationally and internationally, including juried group exhibitions at The Painting Center in New York, NY, and 203 Art Gallery, Shanghai, China. She received a Master of Fine Arts in Painting from Montana State University, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of North Dakota.

These paintings are inspired by the Ozark-St. Francis National Forest and Petit Jean National Park in Arkansas. Experiencing nature can be a relief from everyday life and can provide perspective when personal concerns loom large. I worked from photographs that I took while hiking, an activity that brings me peace. I hope that by capturing the unique landscapes of these protected natural areas, I will have encouraged people to support policies which fund their protection and to oppose decisions which may threaten them
