I am interested in the history and processes of storytelling; as well as folklore and its relationship to memory. I often imagine how my girlhood and presentation of femininity would change outside of the confines of the Ozarks. When I begin to fabricate my work, I see these wonderments trickle down to my process of making. As I reflect on memories within my mind, many are fuzzy and unclear. When I try to draw from memory, I build my compositions with color over line. As stories and connections between people(s) are ever changing, so is color. There is never a moment when a person or landscape will look the same twice. The same as a story, whether folklore or familial history, will never be told the same. With these concepts and considerations in mind, I act to progress and generate innovative modes of storytelling as well as challenge their histories.
