As an artist, I find that keeping an openness to a range of mediums gives me the latitude to explore the subjects that I would like to address in a more holistic way. I am a painter, sculptor, and printmaker. My work over the years has centered around concerns of labor and reproduction, capitalism, the body, power dynamics, and forms of resistance.
This new series of relief paintings reference collages I started in Hong Kong from 2019-2023 and prints from a recent residency program in Sicily. Much of my previous work came out of my reflections on forms of physical labor, specifically how we define and apply value to reproduction. These new works will be presented in a solo show at Oolong Gallery, Rancho Santa Fe this fall.
The examples submitted were made over the past year as a meditation on both my body as I brought my second child into the world, and on the cycles of nature witnessed through the environments I have lived in.
