2021-2023 Artist Registry
Biennially, the Arkansas Committee of NMWA invites Arkansas artists who identify as women to apply for the juried Artist Registry. Original work in all media is eligible. The invited juror for the 2021/23 cycle was Ann Prentice Wagner, Ph.D., the Jackye and Curtis Finch, Jr. Curator of Drawings at the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts. Selected artists will be featured in the Registry for two years. Artists included in our biennial Arkansas Women to Watch exhibition are automatically in the Registry during the concurrent cycle, as is the recipient of the annual Artist Award.
“The women artists of Arkansas enrich not only this state, but the whole world with the works they create. These art works get out in the world through museums, galleries, homes, publications, and the internet. It’s wonderful to be part of this important project that helps to get out the word about Arkansas’s outstanding women artists and their art. I look forward to meeting more of these artists, and seeing more of their art in person, when conditions allow that. But COVID-19 hasn’t daunted the formidable women artists of Arkansas. They keep creating, no matter what. I urge everyone to have a look at the work, and keep an eye out for what these artists make next. It is sure to be exciting.”
