As a woman born and raised in Iran, my work reflects a lifetime of quiet resistance-on the streets, in studios, and within institutions that were never made for us. I create from the tension between what is given to women and what we must fight to claim. Through painting, ceramics, handmade papers, and mixed materials, I explore visibility and erasure, particularly of women navigating Middle Eastern cultural and political landscapes.

Much of my work examines access and autonomy-whether through depictions of women in sports or the simple, radical act of painting in a space that restricts expression. As an immigrant, I've learned that crossing borders doesn't end the struggle; it changes its shape. Microaggressions, silence, and being "othered" become the new terrain.

In Iran, even painting an apple can be defiant. My art is a record of that spirit-of resilience, resistance, and refusal to disappear.
